Bike Express to Lyon

Last Thursday we took the Bike Express to France. The bus arrived on time and was only half full so the journey had less people to pick up and we caught an earlier cross channel ferry. Whilst the service was good and the drive very smooth, it was still a very tiring trip and we did not get much sleep. We were also surprised when we arrived at Givors two hours early. Fortunately we had purchased lights and high visibility vests (compulsory for night cycling in France). We had a cup of coffee from the bus and set up our bikes under the street lights before setting off for Lyon. The roads and town were completely empty at 3:30 am so there were no problems with traffic on what would otherwise have been busy roads. It was quit surreal riding in the dark and the only life we saw was several cats crossing the road on our way. We arrived on the outskirts of Lyon just as it was getting light but nothing was open, not even a cafe.
